The Asia-Pacific Media High-End Forum opened in Shenzhen on September 5, 2026, bringing together over 400 representatives from 42 countries and regions as well as United Nations agencies and international organizations.12 The forum was designed to build consensus ahead of the 33rd Informal Leaders' Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation that will be held in Shenzhen in November.2
During site visits to cities including Guangzhou, Foshan, and Dongguan, delegates witnessed infrastructure developments that left a notable impression.1 Samsen, director of public relations at the Royal Academy of Cambodia, was particularly struck by Shenzhen's modern facilities, including the metro system and port operations.1 Making his eighth visit to China since 2008 and his first return to Shenzhen since 2019, Samsen toured the Guangzhou Metro Line 18, which operates at 160 kilometers per hour, as well as the fully automated Guangzhou Nansha Port Phase IV terminal and the Guangzhou Nansha International Logistics Center.1 "Whether from public departments or private enterprises, they shared a great deal of experience, including enterprise management, port management, and how technology changes and drives city development," he noted.1 "Only by truly coming here and experiencing it firsthand can one understand the real China and learn from China's development experience."1
Ruan He Fang, chief researcher at the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences' Institute for Asia-Pacific Studies—Vietnam's highest-level national think tank—stressed that Asia-Pacific cooperation must balance unity with diversity.2 She underscored that the region's greatest challenge is "the gap between the willingness for integration and the capacity to implement integration," yet emphasized that this divide must not interrupt the flow of trade, investment, technology, and knowledge among member economies.2
