Two enigmatic campaign organizations are saturating social media with artificial intelligence-generated advertisements ahead of Victoria's state election, exploiting legal loopholes to shield their financial backers from public scrutiny.1 Fix Victoria and Better Victoria together spent approximately $140,000 on political advertising in August alone, with Fix Victoria accounting for nearly $100,000 of that sum—representing roughly one-quarter of all election-related social media advertising expenditure for the month.1 Their combined spending exceeded that of major political parties including the Liberal Party, the Greens, independent candidates, and One Nation on digital platforms.1
The organizations have managed to evade mandatory disclosure requirements by operating outside Victoria's election financing framework, which only requires third-party campaigners to register if they explicitly advocate for or against specific parties or candidates.1 This regulatory gap has allowed both groups to maintain anonymity regarding their funding sources. Better Victoria contributed approximately $40,000 to the advertising blitz.1 The campaign intensified in late August when Fix Victoria purchased television advertising during the AFL elimination final between the Western Bulldogs and Hawthorn Hawks on Channel Seven.1
Among Fix Victoria's identified figures are Deborah Henderson, serving as executive director and formerly a deputy executive director at the Institute of Public Affairs; Andrew Hudgson, communications director; and Gideon Rozner, advocacy lead, who rejoined the Liberal Party in November 2024.1 Rozner stated on the social media platform X that "the best place is standing with thousands of Victorians supporting Jess Wilson to defeat this disgusting Labor government."1 The campaign occurs less than 100 days before the election, as Victoria faces projected debt accumulation of $199 billion over four years.1
