The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge, a 55-kilometer span that ranks as the world's longest sea crossing, has demonstrated substantial economic impact since opening in October 2018.1 Through August of this year, the bridge has accommodated approximately 1.3 billion passenger journeys and over 18.6 million vehicle crossings.1 Trade volumes passing through the bridge's Zhuhai highway checkpoint have surged dramatically, with cumulative import-export values reaching 1.5 trillion yuan.1 Monthly trade figures have grown more than sevenfold, climbing from 4.1 billion yuan in the early phases of operation to 34 billion yuan during the first seven months of this year.1 Cross-border e-commerce packages have emerged as a major economic driver, with approximately 3 million parcels per day routed through the bridge to over 200 countries and regions during January through July.1
Beyond freight and passenger flows, the bridge has catalyzed broader regional development.
