China is actively driving the development of international standards in critical areas of power battery technology, including thermal management systems and retired battery recycling.1 Under the frameworks of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), China has successfully launched two international standards focused on testing methods for power battery thermal management systems.1 These include standards titled "Electric Road Vehicles — Power Battery Pack and System Thermal Management System Test Methods — Part 1: General Test" and "Electric Road Vehicles — Power Battery Pack and System Thermal Management System Test Methods — Part 2: Liquid Cooling/Heating Systems."1
In addition to thermal management efforts, China has advanced an international standard proposal on "Guidelines for Safe Discharge of Retired Batteries" through the IEC framework, which has now reached the committee draft (CD) stage.1 As a leading global power battery manufacturing nation, China is positioning itself to provide standardization support for coordinated international development of the battery industry.1 The State Administration for Market Regulation has pledged to guide greater participation from professionals in power battery production, usage, and recycling sectors in international standards research.1
