The testimony forms part of Jones's trial on 22 charges, comprising 20 counts of indecent assault and 2 counts of intentional sexual touching, involving allegations from six male complainants 1. Eight of these charges relate to complainant "C" 1. Hadley confirmed in court that he had discussed Jones's alleged misconduct with complainant "C" via text message in October 2019, at one point stating Jones "needed to be destroyed" 1. In December 2023, after a Sydney Morning Herald investigation by chief reporter Kate McClymont published the complainants' allegations, Hadley sent another message saying: "This bloke has been like this for 50 years, will curl up in a foetal position when he reads the story tomorrow morning" 1.
