Typhoon Saola made its second landing in China on the morning of September 3rd after initially striking the country in late August and subsequently regenerating over the South China Sea.1 The storm came ashore near Gulei Town in Zhangpu County, Zhangzhou City in Fujian Province at approximately 6:30 a.m., with maximum sustained winds near the center reaching 23 meters per second.1
The typhoon brought intense rainfall across the region, with some areas in Fuding City in northern Fujian accumulating over 400 millimeters of precipitation within 24 hours.1 Road collapses were reported in multiple locations in Zherong County.1 In response to the severe weather, Zhangpu, Zhao'an, and Dongshan counties in Zhangzhou implemented suspension measures affecting work, production, classes, and markets.1 All kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, and universities in Quanzhou and Fuzhou halted educational activities.1
