Charles Perrottet, brother of former New South Wales Premier Dominic Perrottet, has become a focal point in an Independent Commission Against Corruption investigation into alleged political donations linked to fugitive developer Jean Nasif.1 During ICAC questioning, Charles Perrottet acknowledged that multiple political commitments he made to Nasif were fabricated, including pledges to remove a building commissioner and resolve parliamentary issues.1 He justified the falsehoods by stating that "it's what friends do" and noting that "in politics, sometimes you say things to people that aren't 100 per cent true."1
The corruption inquiry extends to another family member, Jean-Claude Perrottet.1 When Nasif was scheduled to testify before ICAC on Friday, he submitted medical documentation from Beirut claiming he was unable to appear via video link due to health concerns.1 Dominic Perrottet, who served as Premier from October 2021 until losing the 2023 state election, has since left Australia and now works for BHP in Washington, D.C.1 In his parliamentary debut in 2011, Dominic had declared of his brother Charles: "We'll be a team from the start, and we'll be a team to the finish."1
