The State Administration for Market Regulation convened a national conference on market supervision and law enforcement inspection work, disclosing enforcement achievements for the first half of 2026.1 The country's market regulation system handled 641,700 cases during this period and imposed fines totaling 6.982 billion yuan.1
Cracking down on "ghost restaurants" emerged as a priority enforcement initiative under the regulator's purview.1 The conference, held in Baotou, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, was attended by Vice Director Bai Qingyuan of the State Administration for Market Regulation.1 For the second half of the year, the regulator committed to targeted oversight in key sectors, advancement of service-oriented enforcement, optimization of case-handling mechanisms, and strengthening of standardized enforcement practices.1 The agency pledged to address industry "internal involution" competitive misconduct through concentrated remedial action.1 Additionally, the regulator indicated it would apply lenient or reduced penalties, or waive penalties entirely, for business operators whose initial violations carried minor consequences and who made timely corrections.1
