The plan aims to increase annual copper production to 3 million tons, boost electricity generation capacity to 10,000 megawatts, raise corn output to 10 million tons, and attract 5 million annual tourists 1. The president declared an intention to triple Zambia's economic size over the next five years, building on the nation's current gross domestic product of approximately $28.9 billion 1.
Hichilema's election victory was announced on August 18th, following presidential elections held on August 13th 1.
