Radio broadcaster Ray Hadley testified in Sydney court that he employed derogatory language to describe Alan Jones following the withdrawal of a secret A$4 million contract that would have seen him take over Jones's breakfast show slot 12. The 85-year-old Jones is currently on trial facing 20 counts of indecent assault and 2 counts of sexual touching involving six male complainants, spanning from 2003 to 2020 13. Hadley, appearing as a prosecution witness, revealed details of the professional conflict between himself and Jones 1. In late 2018, management at Macquarie Media approached Hadley with a confidential agreement to assume Jones's position starting in July 2019, with Hadley's salary doubling from A$2 million to A$4 million 12. However, the deal fell through when the media company's major shareholder John Singleton sold his stake to Nine Entertainment 2.
In his testimony, Hadley acknowledged harboring hostile feelings toward Jones and frequently referring to him using derogatory terms 12.
