In his remarks, Xiao outlined four hopes for students: first, to cultivate respect in small details; second, to pursue learning in genuine practice; third, to maintain vigilance in clarity of mind; and fourth, to make choices with lofty aspirations 1. He invoked examples of sacrifice and duty to illustrate his vision. He referenced martyr Chen Xiangfeng, who died at age 19 on June 15, 2020, in the Galwan Valley conflict, with his helmet bearing the inscription "Clear love, only for China" 1. Xiao also mentioned Yi Xinyu, age 21, and Cheng Long, age 25, who sacrificed their lives on August 11, 2025, during sovereignty protection operations at Huangyan Island; both were posthumously awarded the title "Loyal Guardian of the Chinese People's Armed Police" on August 5 of this year 1. The address further noted that this year marks the 90th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army's Long March 1.
