On August 29, Shenzhen University's "Dance Pingshan" practice team launched a public welfare program at the Pingshan Street Disabled Persons Rehabilitation Service Center, combining the provincial-level intangible cultural heritage Pingshan qilin dance with rehabilitation therapy for children with special needs.1 Children aged 5 to 15 with disabilities participated in a 90-minute immersive course where they learned fundamental qilin dance movements under volunteer guidance, accompanied by parents and caregivers.1
The initiative incorporated technological innovation alongside traditional arts. Through an AI intelligent system called "Pingqi Qi," the program generated real-time Chinese ink-wash style short videos of the students performing, allowing them to experience the fusion of artistic healing and digital innovation.1 This marked the first high-precision motion capture application in the qilin dance field, resulting in the development of "Pingqi Qi," a digital AI qilin dance entity.1
The program was organized by the Pingshan District Federation of Disabled Persons and the Shenzhen Tongwei Caring Public Welfare Foundation, with implementation support from Pingshan District Special Education School.1 The project involved the fifth-generation successor of Pingshan qilin dance Zeng Qiwei, alongside faculty members including Zhang Jie from Shenzhen University's School of Physical Education and Zhou Rundong from the School of Communication.1 The initiative is grounded in the National Social Science Foundation project titled "Research on Digital Co-construction, Co-governance, and Sharing of Physical Culture Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area."1
