Moonlight Resources is undertaking targeted diamond drilling at its Leo Grande gold project in central Queensland, marking the next phase following completion of reverse circulation (RC) drilling activities.1 The company's two-phase RC drilling program has identified over 1 kilometer of continuous mineralization featuring multiple gold-bearing intervals, and the new diamond drilling phase will extract oriented core samples for geological modeling and metallurgical testing ahead of the company's first mineral resource estimate.1
The four-hole, 500-meter diamond drilling plan follows earlier RC results that established significant gold potential across the project.1 First-phase RC drilling returned gold intersections in every hole, with grades reaching 1.3 grams per tonne at depths up to 40 meters below surface.1 Subsequent drilling extended the known mineralization beyond 1 kilometer, including a 19-meter intersection grading 1.95 grams per tonne at 99 meters depth and a 40-meter zone averaging 1.31 grams per tonne at 76 meters depth, within which a 5-meter section assayed 3.40 grams per tonne.1
Leo Grande is located within Moonlight Resources' 268-square-kilometre Clermont gold project, approximately 15 kilometers from the town of Clermont.1 The broader Clermont project area encompasses historical mining operations and resources exceeding 6.5 million ounces.1 Greg Starr, General Manager of Moonlight Resources, stated that "RC drilling has significantly enhanced our understanding of the scale and continuity of the Leo Grande system, and the new diamond drilling program is designed to provide a higher level of geological and structural information."1
