Viking Mines has identified high-grade tungsten mineralization across early-stage exploration sampling at two historic mine projects in Nevada, with peak grades reaching 2.7% tungsten trioxide.1 The discovery at the Long project included a 1.8-meter continuous channel sample grading 1.8% tungsten trioxide, with a 0.45-meter interval assaying 2.7%, alongside a secondary 1.35-meter sample returning 0.6%.1 At the Terrell project, a contact skarn float sample graded 2.4% tungsten trioxide, while granite veins yielded maximum grades of 1.7%.1
The findings underscore the mineral potential of Viking's Nevada properties, building upon their historical significance. The historic Long mine previously produced 17,000 tonnes of 0.6% tungsten trioxide ore, while the historic Linka mine generated 65,000 tonnes of 0.5% tungsten trioxide material before ceasing operations in 1956.1 Viking has secured approval from the U.S. Bureau of Land Management to collect 907 tonnes of bulk samples from the Linka project's historic stockpiles.1
According to Julian Woodcock, Viking Mines' chairman and chief executive officer, "These early-stage exploration sample results demonstrate the quality of the ground we have secured in Nevada. Both projects have returned high-grade tungsten from historic workings that have never undergone modern exploration. Our primary focus remains the Linka project as our most advanced asset, but the additional mineralization opportunities across our other projects cannot be overlooked."1
