Wuhan has become the first megacity in China to establish a comprehensive low-altitude unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) monitoring system covering its entire urban area. 1 On July 29, the Wuhan Institute of Surveying and Mapping partnered with DJI Industry Solutions to launch the "City Smart Eye" system, featuring 146 unattended drone airports that enable a five-minute response time for UAV deployment across the municipality. 1
The integrated system comprises a low-altitude UAV monitoring network, cloud control platform, artificial intelligence algorithm library, and industry-specific applications. 1 The network already serves 16 government departments in Wuhan, supporting operations in traffic management, ecological protection, and forest fire prevention. 1 Drones have been deployed in response to 400 elevated expressway traffic incidents, with approximately 30 percent of accident scenes resolved through remote guidance. 1
