In response to the contentious climate, Peking University's School of Mathematics removed portions of an interview with Deng Yu from its social media account, particularly sections discussing his experience studying abroad—a move widely interpreted as a response to public pressure.[1] In the deleted interview segment, Deng Yu had stated: "There is no single answer that applies to everyone regarding whether to go abroad or where to work long-term."[1] He also remarked: "This kind of experience usually enriches a person's perspective, and I believe that choosing to work overseas or returning to develop one's career domestically are both completely viable options."[1]
