Chinese Vice Premier Wang Yi attended the fourth International Arctic Forum held in Arkhangelsk, Russia, where he emphasized China's willingness to play a greater role in Arctic development [1]. The forum, held on March 30, brought together more than 2,000 government officials, business leaders, and senior experts from nearly 30 countries [1]. Russian President Putin, Finnish President Niinistö, and Icelandic President Jóhannesson also participated in the event [1].
During the opening session, Wang Yi called for strengthened environmental protection in the Arctic, deeper scientific exploration, and rational utilization of Arctic resources [1]. He stated that "China is an important stakeholder in Arctic affairs" and expressed China's readiness to "discuss joint exploration with other countries" [1]. Wang Yi also co-chaired a regular meeting of the China-Russia Government Heads Committee with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Rogozin, during which both sides discussed cooperation in areas including the Arctic, nuclear energy, agriculture, and civil aviation [1].
