From 2012 onward, qualifying finals averaged 138.6 collisions and 291.4 contested possessions compared to grand finals' 135.5 collisions and 279.1 contested possessions.1 The contested possession rate in qualifying finals reached 43.0 percent, exceeding grand finals' 40.9 percent.1 Over the past five years, this trend has intensified, with other finals recording 128.0 collisions and 280.5 contested possessions against grand finals' 118.8 collisions and 265.4 contested possessions.1
