An Australian federal court has dismissed defamation claims brought against actor and director Rebel Wilson by Charlotte McKinney, star of Wilson's directorial debut film "The Deb." [1]
Judge Elizabeth Raper ruled that Wilson's social media posts did not constitute defamation. [1] McKinney had alleged that Wilson made four defamatory posts between September 2024 and July 2025, claiming Wilson falsely suggested that McKinney withdrew a sexual harassment complaint to advance her career. [1]
The judge determined that McKinney failed to demonstrate the posts caused serious harm to her reputation. [1] The court dismissed the lawsuit and ordered McKinney to cover litigation costs. [1]
Wilson described the ruling as a "substantial win" in an Instagram post. [1]
"The Deb" is scheduled for digital platform release in the United States on August 25. [1]
